HARARE — Plus-size women in Harare will have access to free breast cancer screenings this month as Super Size Me Africa Zimbabwe launches a Pink October campaign aimed at breaking weight-related stigma and eliminating barriers to healthcare.
The organisation will host a free community screening day in partnership with the Cancer Association of Zimbabwe on Friday, 16 October 2026.
The facility visit will provide plus-size community members with zero-barrier access to clinical breast examinations, early detection counselling, and health education in a safe, supportive environment.
Kings & Queens Meet & Greet Braai
The campaign culminates on Saturday, 31 October 2026, at Sherwood Golf Club in Mabelreign, Harare, with the flagship Kings & Queens Meet & Greet Braai.
The event serves as the official build-up and kickoff for the upcoming Walkathon Tour 2026 Harare Chapter, blending social celebration with health advocacy.
Priced at $20 all-inclusive, attendees will enjoy a braai platter featuring three meats, fresh salads, and starch, alongside live acoustic performances by Afro-Fusion and Mbira artist Tendex, top local DJs, and networking opportunities.
The venue will also feature on-site health screening booths and serve as the launchpad for the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence.
Building on Bulawayo success
The Harare campaign follows the success of SSMAZ's recent empowerment and advocacy tour in Bulawayo, which brought together plus-size women and men to champion self-worth, economic inclusion, and peer support.

SSMAZ Founder and Executive Director Alice Chinya said the movement continues to prove that plus-size individuals deserve visibility, dignity, and active health equity.
She invited the community and allies to join the CAZ screening partnership on 16 October and the celebration at Sherwood Golf Club on 31 October.
