Local Government and Public Works Minister Daniel Garwe has directed all 92 local authorities to issue abatement orders against owners of unsafe and dilapidated buildings.
Speaking during a media briefing in Harare yesterday, Minister Garwe said the orders will require property owners and occupiers to fix the problems within a set period, adding that non-compliance could result in penalties under the law.
The orders will also target unsafe or poorly maintained boundary walls, pavements, yards, and other surrounding areas.
